GetaMail.net today launched its latest service - Email Marketing. Email Marketing is a managed email marketing service. It aims to remove the headache of running inhouse campaign software, while improving the quality of campaigns through higher delivery rates, better reporting and better tools to help minimize the chances of messages being blocked by spam engines or displaying incorrectly in different email clients.

New Features: Calendar, Language Support and Account Import

GetaMail.net has some exciting new features today. We have launched our new Calendar (v2.0) beta, language support and our account import utility (release version).

Calendar v2.0
The new calendar brings interactive features to our calendar. You can now drag 'n drop appointments, see multiple calendars and use our handy scheduling tool to make sure everyone is available when you set an appointment. Invitations can now be sent and accepted/declined via email to any recipient. These invitations are also compatible with people using Outlook.

You'll also find our new calendar version offers better control over recurring appointments as well as a reminder service.

To turn your new calendar on, you'll need to visit your Settings page and then click on Web Settings -> Display Settings. Please remember though that it is still in beta, so this really is for testing only.

Language Support
... is finally here! We've been working extremely hard with our developers and translators. First off therefore is a massive thank you to everyone involved in this project.

Initially GetaMail.net is launching with 6 languages! These are English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Arabic. We expect to have Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian available within the next month.

Our webmail client will now also display foreign characters and support languages in emails sent to or from our system. We hope this new functionality will significantly improve our service offering to non-English speaking businesses.

Import Utility
If you're migrating a large number of mailboxes to GetaMail.net, we now have a CSV import utility. You can upload a CSV file containing your usernames, emails, passwords and other relevant information to our server. We can then mass create the accounts for you.

Combined with our Sync Email Account IMAP migration utility, you'll find this a very useful addition to the GetaMail.net feature set. You'll find the Account Import Utility under your Settings in either a group or reseller admin account.

 GetaMail.net Launches New Migration Tool

GetaMail.net has just released it's new migration tool. This tool gives total control to the user to migrate over to GetaMail.net. Typically, there are several stages to an IMAP migration to GetaMail.net:

  1. Create your GetaMail.net account.
  2. Get your email boxes set up.
  3. Run a full sync from your existing server to GetaMail.net to get all of your mail data.
  4. Keep updating GetaMail.net with new email from your existing server until you're ready to switch your MX record(s) to us.
With our new sync tool, you can select from a few different sync modes:

Sync ALL mail from your existing server
Sync new messages only
Sync new messages only + update all flags

If you just want to test out the process without downloading any new messages, we also have a dry run function. Other options include how many connections you want us to make to your existing server as well as your server address, port and SSL mode.

The next step in the process is really neat. You can select which accounts you want to sync up (or select all) and you can even enter a different password if you've updated your passwords since switching to GetaMail.net. Clicking on a username will run a live test to your server to see if we could authenticate successfully.

Once you've set this page up, you're good to go and you can either have the sync run immediately, or schedule to run at a later date.

When your sync has started running, you'll be able to see a live update of its progress. You can track how many messages have been downloaded, how many accounts have been completed, how many accounts are currently importing, if there were any errors during the process, if any duplicate messages were found, how many folders have been imported, and much more! You can update the number of connections we make to your server, or pause/resume your sync.

You'll find this migration feature located under your Group Admin or Reseller Admin settings page. If you have any questions on our migration tool, please don't hesitate to contact us.

 GetaMail.net's New Hardware

GetaMail.net has recently added significant new hardware to our infrastructure. This was undertaken to accommodate future growth and to continue to improve our speed and reliability.

We added 14 new servers to our network. 3 of these are new webservers which help to run our website and webmail application. 1 was added to boost our smtp capacity and the other 10 were made in to clusters. If you're unfamiliar with GetaMail.net's network, we configure our data servers in clusters so that we have a live copy of your data running at all time. This also helps ensure maximum efficiency amongst the various services that are needed to run your email.

Overall, customers should have noticed an improvement in the general speed of the service, especially in the webmail application. We've already had some great feedback here.

 GetaMail.net contracts anti-spam expert

In an effort to provide customers with the best spam protection possible, GetaMail.net has brought on a leader in the industry to review and recommend changes to its spam configuration. Our consultant is a lead developer in open-source anti-spam technologies and frequently contracts to companies to help monitor and improve their accuracy and speed.

Providing great spam protection is no easy task. It's a fine balance between being cost-effective and providing a solution that is efficiently run with great results.

We're looking forward to the coming weeks and seeing a further improvement in our spam fighting capabilities. If you have any suggestions or questions about our work on spam filtering, please be sure to let us know by contacting our technical support department.

GetaMail.net supports the new Apple iPhone

We've had some of our customers contact us regarding their very cool new Apple iPhone. The good news is GetaMail.net seems to work very well. One small setup issue has been uncovered though...

GetaMail.net does support IMAP via the iPhone, however within your iPhone IMAP settings, you'll need to enter a root prefix of "INBOX" (note that it must be capitalized).

No issues with POP have been detected.
